Microneedling

SkinPen, the first FDA-cleared microneedling device, generates thousands of precise microchannels in the skin, triggering the production of collagen and elastin.
This natural process stimulates the release of growth factors, attracting and boosting the activity of repair cells. The outcome? Your skin experiences a remarkable renewal, becoming firmer, smoother, and more youthful.

COSMOPen is a state-of-the-art medical grade high speed micro-needling System. It offers the same results as a fractional laser without pain, downtime, expense, and thermal damage. COSMOPen can be used to treat acne and surgical scars—including keloids—as well as wrinkles, stretch marks, pore size, and signs of aging. Additionally, by vertically piercing the skin, COSMOPen helps naturally induce collagen production and treat pigmentation

What is Microneedling?

Also known as Skin Needling or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that uses tiny, sterile needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating the body’s natural collagen production.

How does it work?
Microneedling, also referred to as Percutaneous Collagen Induction (PCI) therapy, involves the use of a specialized device equipped with fine microneedles. These microneedles create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin, activating the body’s wound healing process—comprising hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and tissue remodeling. This leads to the formation of new collagen and elastin, resulting in the improvement of skin texture, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and sun damage. Since it’s a non-ablative treatment, it works on deeper layers of the skin without removing the surface layer.

Principle behind Microneedling:
Microneedling with the COSMOPen is a form of Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT). Like other non-surgical skin-tightening treatments, it creates controlled micro-injuries beneath the skin’s surface, triggering the formation of new layers of collagen and elastin (neo-collagenesis) and new capillaries (neo-angiogenesis) to improve blood supply. This process helps plump and thicken the skin, reducing the appearance of scars, fine lines, and textural irregularities. Additionally, the microchannels created during treatment allow for enhanced absorption of topical products, improving their effectiveness.

What areas of the body can be treated, and am I a good candidate?
The COSMOPen is suitable for all skin types and can effectively address a variety of skin concerns, including facial rejuvenation, scarring (from acne or surgery), stretch marks, pigmentation disorders, and alopecia.

What will the treatment feel like, and how long is the downtime?
Typically, a topical anesthetic is applied before the COSMOPen procedure to minimize discomfort, making the treatment virtually pain-free. Downtime is minimal, though you may experience some redness for 12 to 48 hours post-treatment.

When will I see results?
Some improvement may be noticeable after the first or second session, with more significant results appearing after 4 to 6 treatments spaced 10-15 days apart. Collagen remodeling continues over time, and your skin will keep improving over the next 6 to 12 months with the right skincare routine. Results vary from patient to patient.

Can I combine COSMOPen treatments with fillers or Botox injections?
It's recommended to wait at least 4 days after receiving filler or Botox injections before undergoing a COSMOPen treatment, allowing any bruising to subside. Alternatively, you can have your COSMOPen treatment 1 to 2 days before getting fillers.

If fillers are injected with Dermasculpt Microcannulas, the chance of bruising is significantly reduced.

What can the COSMOPen treat?
The COSMOPen is highly effective for:

  • Facial rejuvenation by restoring skin elasticity and stimulating collagen production

  • Improving the appearance of acne scars and keloids

  • Reducing fine lines and deeper expression lines

  • Treating stretch marks

  • Minimizing hyperpigmentation and melasma

  • Addressing alopecia

  • Enhancing the absorption of nutrients through the skin
